Research Center of Ancient Near Eastern and Mediterranean Cultures

(CAEMC)

CAEMC is an international research center (consortium), with the seat at the University of Tartu (Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Institute of History and Archaeology), for academic research and teaching of the history, culture and religions of the Ancient Near Eastern and Mediterranean civilisations.

The aim of CAEMC is to study the ancient Near Eastern and Mediterranean cultures in symbiosis, paying special attention to the comparative research, cultural contacts, mutual influences and transfer of technologies.

CAEMC conducts and coordinates academic research, organises international conferences, publishes academic volumes, and prepares academic teaching on the MA and PhD level.
